With the development of Chinese economy, there is an increasing demand of learners for business Chinese. In order to meet the increasing demand, many scholars devote themselves to the research of teaching business Chinese and introducing some unique teaching methods into it. Among them,the task-based teaching method is especially suitable, thus it has gotten the attention of many scholars. Currently the researches’main focus in task-based business Chinese is teaching, whereas the research on textbooks has been put into the shadows. But as an important guidance and reference, textbooks play a very important role.In addition, as an important part of learning, exercises have attracted the writer’s attention. In view of this, the study focuses on the compilation of task-based business Chinese textbooks, especially the exercises.At first, the thesis discusses the significance, content and methods of the topic and makes an overview of the business Chinese and task-based teaching method in the first two chapters.It also discusses the feasibility of task-based teaching method regarding business Chinese textbooks. After that, the thesis talks about Chinese for managers(Business Chinese volume)which has received great praise in the field of Chinese teaching. The third chapter uses a statistical method to summarize and analyze the exercises in the textbook and also make a conclusion of the general characteristics.In order to more fully understand how the textbook is used, the thesis also includes interviews and surveys, asking both teachers and students.On the basis of the interviews and surveys,an in-depth discussion on the task-based exercises is carried on, which mainly concentrates on the following three aspects:First is the selection of the background materials and the research on the designing and adjusting the difficulty of the text-task. The second is regarding the research on designing and adjusting difficulty for the core activities. The third is the designing of task-oriented exercises concentrating on the language forms. Finally, proceeding from the experience, the writer provides suggestions to the teachers who will use the textbooks. In addition, the writer also designed a few examples of exercises in the appendix, which is provided for reference and further discussion.Combining the theoretical achievements of task-based teaching method, the experience of the business Chinese teachers and the feedback of business Chinese learners, the thesis makes an all-round and multi-angle revamp of the exercise compilation and puts forward the concrete scheme of task-based writing and sample textbook. The textbook was first published more than10years ago and has been reprinted no less than8times but it has never been revised. The result of the thesis is of great significance for the future revamp.
