The task-based approach is a new teaching method,which typically involves designing a specific and feasible communication task for a student to complete.Its biggest advantages include interest and practicality.In Thailand,Chinese is the second most important and popular language.However,Chinese class,as it is currently taught,fails to awaken the interest of students in spoken Chinese.According to experience,it is not difficult to find that an obvious characteristic of the students in Thailand is their lively character.In class,students will become increasingly disinterested if they are restricted to reading books.The method of task-based teaching,using expression,communication and some networking activities,is more suitable for Thai students.This study applies the task-based teaching method with the aim of stimulating students' interest in Chinese,and improving their oral Chinese level.The main subjects of investigation were oral Chinese teaching volunteers at the spoken Chinese Program,Naresuan University Thailand.This study finds that the task-based teaching method,applied to oral Chinese teaching,can indeed help stimulate and cultivate students' interest in learning Chinese,improve pupils' Chinese pronunciation level,and cultivate students' cooperative learning consciousness,as well as their ability to communicate with classmates and teachers.
