Style bears great influence upon the precise and proper conveyance of the meaning of the Chinese original in the Chinese-English consecutive interpretation. Since different interpreters use different methods to process the Chinese original and to output it in English, the styles of interpreters are usually different.Based on Cheng Yumin’s quantitative research method and the specific features of interpreters’ styles, I put forward an innovative16+2stylistic markers system to analyze interpreters’ styles in the Chinese-English consecutive interpretation. Carefully analyzing six interpreters’ performance in the1st Cross-Strait Interpretation Competition, I try to identify the differences between different interpreters’ styles and draw a comparison between them. To prove the statistics produced by this system, I invite native speakers and non-native English-major students to participate in a survey to rank the styles of the same interpreters. The survey result proves the efficiency of the quantitative method: on formal occasions, styles which are given higher scores in the stylistic markers system rank higher than those with lower scores; for styles with the same score, the style which has fewer negative markers is preferred. On the basis of the above analysis, some suggestions for future Chinese-English consecutive interpretation practice are also raised.
