Translation Strategies Of Polysemy Based On The Text Of Maritime English

This translation report is, based on the text of ten thousand words on maritime English, a summary of the previous translation practice. The text of ten thousand words covers the area of conference report, business contract, scientific illustration and current news, which represent the main forms of practical writing. The feature of the language is tight, brief and rigorous. During the process of translation, the writer made some generalization and summary in terms of the translation strategies of polysemy in maritime English and combined the examples in translation practice discussing the language feature and translation strategies of the forms of contract and science respectively.This translation report consists of four parts. The first part is the introduction of translation tasks, including the character and content of the text. The second part is the description of translating process, including the tools of translation, the plan of translation, text reading and text proofreading. The third part is about the issues in translation and the according solutions. This part is the emphasis of this report, which elaborates polysemy in linguistics firstly and then generalizes the language feature of the two forms, and summarizes the issues in translation practice and their solutions lastly. The fourth part is the conclusion of the translation practice, which concludes the writer’s gain and some experience during the translation process.
