As long sentences have so many components,the E-C translation of long sentences in maritime English is a key point in the field of translation.Due to its special features,the translator should make a concise and detailed analysis of the original text in translation.The translation report was accomplished based on a translation mission which was the E-C translation of Maritime Governance and Policy-Making written by Michael Roe.All the texts belonged to the area of maritime English.The purpose was to discuss the skills as well as methods for converting in different components of maritime long sentences in the E-C translation.During the process of translation,the author didn't fully translate the material according to the original form,but translated it in a flexible way,recreating it based onthe original main idea for a similar effect with the material.At the same time,the author also checked some technical terms in the original text strictly,such as names of some institutions,organizations and conventions,avoiding the unfluent or unprofessional translation.To conclude,the translation report not only reveals the features of long sentences in maritime English,but also gives a various of flexible and accurate translation methods,including the conversion of orders of tenses,forms,attributes and passive voices,which is of a great value.The author hopes that the translation report can help all the post-graduate students in translation major to gain an access to translating long sentences in maritime English.
