With the ongoing globalization, interpreting as the linguistic intermediary ofcross-cultural communication becomes more and more important. Nowadays, China enjoysan increasing attention from the world because of its accelerating development andimproved comprehensive national strength. Therefore, interpretation is often used inpolitical conferences. On March5th,2013, on behalf of the State Council, Premier WenJiabao delivered the Government Work Report, which drew great attention from bothdomestic and foreign media, thus making the interpretation a real difficult task.The Chinese and English languages differ greatly. Moreover, differences of cultureand the way of thinking lead to the different expressions of the two languages. The wordand sentence order, as one of the outstanding aspects of the differences, will be discussedin this paper. In many cases, a sentence or a paragraph with different word or sentenceorders will convey different meanings and key points. We can figure out that the right wordand sentence orders are very critical in interpretation. This paper will analyze the word andsentence order from several aspects and discuss the possible solutions, hoping to provideeffective guidance in interpreting training and practice.
