Potential Complement is the peculiar syntactic component in Chinese, which is afrequently--used grammar in Chinese daily communications. It’s easy to master thestructure, but the semantics is complex and there are more pragmatic constraints in it.Therefore, potential complement has always been the relatively weak content in thesecond language teaching and research. And it is also the difficulty in students’study. The research objects are the overseas students whose native language is English.Through questionnaires and in view of the learning problems of potential complementwhich the native English students will have, this paper summarizes the types and thecauses of the learning bias errors based on the comparison of Chinese and English aswell as the bias errors analysis.
