Flexibility In E-C Translation Of Military News

Chinese journalists always adopt fixed language pattern while reporting military news due to the influence of political system and class consciousness of China. When translating English military news into Chinese, Chinese translators are also affected by the fixed language pattern. Therefore, it is necessary to find a suitable way in the E-C translation of military news to avoid the influence of fixed language pattern. Unfortunately, Chinese translators, in most cases, are affected by the existing translation modes because little attention was paid to the research of military news translation and thus an effective instruction mode are not established for the guidance of E-C translation of military news. The aim of this research is to discuss firstly whether the existing translation modes can properly be applied to the E-C translation of military news in any cases. It then hopes to find out suitable methods for military translation. Survey, observation, documentary analysis and empirical study as well as other researching methods are adopted in the research. The results show that E-C translation of military news can not adopt a fixed translation mode; it should apply different methods when translating military news with different content; three translation methods are elaborated in details.
