But the academia is usually more concerned about the negative side of children left behind. Many studies have shown a greater likelihood of psychological and behavioral problems on children left behind. This study is based on the life events of children left behind experienced, to explore the development of two kind of positive quality:resilience and subjective well-being (SWB). Whether the children left behind developed well or bad in adverse environments, the status of his or her resilience is a key element. And the evaluation of their own lives, will decide their experience on life: more joy or more pain. If the children left behind are satisfied with their life, and they usually feel happy, they will have less mental health problems and less behavior problems; Conversely, if they are not satisfied with their life, they will often experience negativeemotions, and then they will exhibit some psychological or behavioralproblems. Therefore, as a index for individuals to evaluate their ownlife, SWB is an important psychological variable we should concern of.In this study, through questionnaires, we can understand the status ofleft-behind children’s life events, resilience and SWB, and we canunderstand the relationship among the three explorations. And thenwe can provide ideas for the people who want to improve the status ofSWB on children left-behind.In this study, adolescent life event scale (ASLEC), adolescentresilience scale and adolescent SWB scale were used to investigate981rural secondary school students who are from Henan Province.The following conclusions are obtained:(1) There is a significant difference in the life events and theirfactors for left-behind and non left-behind children. There is asignificant difference in family support factor of resilience forleft-behind and non left-behind children. There is a significantdifference in family satisfaction, school satisfaction, freedomsatisfaction, environmental satisfaction, total life satisfaction andunpleasant affect for left-behind and non left-behind children.(2) There are significant gender differences in punishment andother factors of life events, in positive cognition and interpersonal assist factors of resilience for children left behind. There aresignificant grade differences in interpersonal relationships, academicpressure and other factors of life events, in positive cognition factorof resilience, in academic satisfaction and environmental satisfactionfactors of life satisfaction for children left behind. There aresignificant differences in academic pressure, punishment, healthyadaptation and other factors of life events, in academic satisfaction,environmental satisfaction and freedom satisfaction factors of lifesatisfaction on different types of children left behind. The frequencyof contact and meeting with parents will influence the status ofleft-behind children’s resilience and SWB.(3) The relationship on life events, resilience and SWB of childrenleft behind are pairwise correlation. Healthy adaption and otherfactors of life events can significantly predict the level of one’sresilience. Other factor, academic pressure and interpersonalrelationships factors of life events can predict the the level of one’slife satisfaction and SWB negatively. Interpersonal relationships,academic pressure and other factors of life events are the positivepredictors of one’s unpleasant affect.
