Ban Gu,a officer,who lived in the Eastern Han Dynasty,was a writer andhistorian.During his adolescent,he studyed in Luo Yang,later he held a postas Lantai officer,then woked as Lang,Collate Secretary.Emperor trusted inhim,award him as XuanWu SiMa.Ban Gu once wrote <Bai Hu Tong Yi>, madeexpeditions with Dou Xian as Hujun.Unfortunately,he was defeated,leadinghim in prison,later he was framed to death.The Book of Former Han set up atypical example for later ages who wrote official history.During his lifetime,hewas good at Fu,he wrote such as<Ode to the Two Capitals>,<You TongFu>,<Code>.Ban Gu is the famous historian Ban Biao’s son,Ban Gu was modest andeager to learn,so his works always presented new perspective with fullcontents.The characteristic of Fu is magnificence,it often reflected in Ban Gu’sliterary works. BanGu did well in learning,he specialized in the use ofwords.Ban Gu majored in Confucianism,minored in all kinds of academic.BanGu quoted a lot,directly quoted,flexible use origin, quoted allusion,which madehis words elegant and graceful.This paper inspects the life background of BanGu,from three aspects:family background,time background,his friends. Thepaper investigated original words of <Ode to the Two Capitals>,<MountainZhongnan Fu>,<You Tong Fu>,<Bamboo fan>,<Da Bin Xi>,<Code>,on thesegrounds,I infer the characteristic of Ban Gu’s words in his works.At last,Imention the influence of his writing characteristics.
