A Report On The Translation Of Impacts Of Desalination Plant Discharges On The Marine Environment: A Critical Review Of Published Studies

This is a translation project report on Impacts of desalination plant dischargeson the marine environment: A critical review of published studies by David A. Roberts.This paper reviews perviously published articles which are related to theenvironmental influence of desalination plants and analyzes the potential impacts ofdesalination plants from various perspectives. The main purpose of the original text isto communicate research results. In the guidance of text type theory, the translatoradopted translation strategies like literal and domestication to preserve theinformation of the original text so as to make the translation natural and smooth sothat readers can fully understand the translation. This report is composed of four parts:Part One is the description of the translation project, including its background, itsobjectives and its significance. Part Two is the introduction of the source text,including the main content, textual analysis and the translation standard and strategiesadopted by the translator. Part Three is the implementation of translation theories onhow to solve the difficulties encountered during the translational process. Thetranslation of technical terms and complex sentences are the main difficulties to besolved. The translation strategies employed during the translation process includingreorganizing the sentence and adjusting the word order, etc. The last part summarizeslessons learned from the translation of this project as well as problems unsolved.
