This is a report on the translation project.The source text is the Chapter 9(International Learning and Teaching in A Graduate Doctor of Nursing Program Curriculum)taken from the book named Internationalizing Higher Education:Critical Collaborations across the Curriculum.The book is a paper collection that is composed of three topics,each topic has several papers that was written by different authors.The author of Chapter 9 is Mary Benbenek.With the acceleration of globalization,the ties between various countries are getting closer and closer,and the exchanges among countries in politics,economy and culture are also becoming increasingly frequent.Internationalization has become a familiar word.The value of education lies in delivering moral and talented people to society and the country.Therefore,the internationalization of higher education plays an indispensable role in promoting the opening up of China's education.The essayists study the background of international teaching and learning of doctoral nursing major courses,the background and implementation conditions of intercultural nursing,and so on.This translation report is written under the guidance of the tutor as well as the functional equivalence theory of Eugene Nida,aiming that this report will be helpful for the internationalization of nursing courses in our country.The original article is a nursing professional thesis,the author is an associate professor of nursing professional,home nursing professional doctoral students with high academic attainments.Besides,as English is the author's native language,which undoubtedly brings some difficulties to the original understanding.According to text type theory proposed by Katharina Reiss,this paper focuses on introducing the author to the reader's research on the "international teaching and learning of doctoral nursing major courses",which belongs to the informative type.Therefore,it is the translator'sduty to convey the original message to the target readers in the translation process.In addition,on the basis of full understanding of the original text,according to the principle of functional equivalence of Dr.Eugene Nida,the reporter adopts the translation technique?conversion in translating the passive voices.At the same time,long and complicated sentences can be found all around the source text,so the translator adopts the syntactic linearity,division and combination to translate those sentences into Chinese.Last but not least,reference is an essential part of one paper,by access to information,the “zero-translation” method was verified to be the right way of translating this part.
