In modern Chinese, it is a very common phenomenon that interrogative sentences are used to express negation instead of interrogation, which indicates that interrogative sentence has something in common with negative expression."shen me”、“na”、“shui” and “zen me” are interrogative pronouns which are frequently used in modern Chinese. The author of the dissertation takes the negative phenomena facilitated by the four specific interrogative pronouns as the object of the study. As the objects of negation varies, the negative forms of the interrogative sentences questioned by “shen me” are classified into “shen me” plus speech,“shen me” plus non-speech and “shen me a”. The negative forms of the interrogative sentences questioned by “shui” are classified into “shui” plus speech,“shui” plus non-speech and “shui shuo de”. The negative forms of the interrogative sentences questioned by “zen me” are classified into two kinds, namely “zen me” plus speech and “zen me” plus non speech. According to the different meanings of “na” in Chinese the negative forms of the interrogative sentences questioned by “na” are classified as the semantic meanings, locational meanings and query meanings. These negative forms of the interrogative sentences are analyzed and discussed in the dissertation in detail.Through the analysis of the phenomena, though the forms of question are different, the interrogative sentences with negative meanings have something in common, such as the loss of the interrogation, the evidence of rhetorical questions and the pragmatic negation of specific interrogation. On the basis of the similarities, the specific interrogation with negative meanings is a special kind in negation. It is different from the negative expressions participated with regular negatives. Therefore, it possesses its own functions and generative conditions. A cross-question can lay a solid foundation for the tone condition. Explanatory sentences and words to form a rhetorical question provide a contextual condition. Under these conditions, the interrogative sentences manage to place emphasis on negation by which the speaker highlights his intention.
