With the increasing necessity of teaching Chinese as the second language, its teaching methods and concepts have greatly changed over the years. Currently, the aim of Chinese language education is improve students’ communicative skill, to enable students to communicate in Chinese. Moreover, according to the development of constructivism, teaching researchers increasingly emphasize the learner status, the initiative to explore the content of the subject, and facilitate student learning. Therefore, based on the principles of student-centered teaching, improving the communicative skill of Chinese learners is growing concern by many educators.The context of drama reflects actual communication, including script writing or editing, reading and rehearsal, and students can both exercise language skills and develop their creativity and initiative. Through drama scenarios, student can channel emotional expression through language all the while reaching the goal of improving language skills. Concurrently, rehearsal processes, student can also develop cooperative spirit with students.In this paper, we look at a preliminary study on the above issues, analyze the characteristics and limitations of existing studies. Based on Teaching experiences in the Confucius Institute of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, describe everything from the process of choosing a script, the organization members of drama team, script reading, focused rehearsals to student evaluations. Finally, discusses how to apply these teaching methods and offer suggestions and comments for educators teaching Chinese drama. We hope this study can be a practical guide for Chinese language teachers and researchers abroad, as they use Chinese drama as an effective means to teach Chinese.
