Translation Practice Report Of Form V-ing In English Maritime News

Based on the translation of maritime news, this report mainly addresses how v-ing in maritime news can be efficiently translated into Chinese. All the maritime news come from the homework of the course called Introduction of International Maritime Convention. According to the classification of v-ing form in traditional grammar, such as the determination of its function (present participle and gerund), and combined with relevant techniques of translation theories (such as conversion, amplification, omission etc.), the v-ing in translation texts are analyzed, and five main translation skills are elucidated. This report also provides certain case studies, which facilitate the analysis of the characteristics in the translation of v-ing form. In so doing, this report serves as a starting-point in the translation of v-ing in maritime news.
