A Practice Report On The Translation Of English News

With the development of China's reform and opening and the global economy, people are increasingly relying on information. At present, reading news is one of the most important ways through which people get the information. Thus news translation is becoming more and more important. As one of the most common styles in routine life, news enjoys a wide and abundant variety of styles; thus it determines that the translation of news absolutely has lots of prominent characteristics and demands. Therefore, news translator should be familiar with translation skills and translation strategies as well as the accumulation of knowledge in other fields to prepare the reserves of the background knowledge of news.This translation practice is in the form of translating English to Chinese. The translation practice report, based on translation of news of China Daily INews, gives an introduction, analysis and summary of the process and fulfillment of the translation practice.This report consists of five major parts, including Task Description, Process Description, Preparation for Translation, Case Analyses and Summary. Chapter one gives a brief introduction of the task's background and content. Chapter two presents the preparation, translating process and proofreading of Chinese version. Chapter three is about some information about the news and some materials and reference books used in the report. Chapter four is the essence part, which mainly analyzes and summarizes the problems in three levels translation of headlines, difficult words and sentences. The last part summarizes the experience and concludes the lessons learnt in this practice.
