From the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, most of the area of the present Wulanchabu city (except Siziwangqi) was called the Cahar right-wing area. In the long history, the area has changed and the population change is one of the major changes in the many changes. Moreover, the population change occurred mainly in the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China. So, the paper, from the perspective of historical geography, takes the population as the research object and discusses some problems on the population geography of the area of Cahar right-wing from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China.The paper is composed of introduction, straight matter and conclusion. As the main structure, the straight matter will be discussed mainly from the following four parts. The first part briefly introduces the evolution of the regional administrative system."The Cahar right-wing area" is a historical place name, so we should know it’s evolution of administrative system in the history before discussing any other problems. This part not only introduces the administrative system of the Cahar right-wing area from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, but also outlines the characteristics of evolution of administrative system from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China. The second part mainly discusses the regional population scale and it is the basic step of population geography. In this part, the population is divided into under the jurisdiction of Mongolian Banner and Hall (County). The author calculates the population scale of different historical periods through Historical Philology and Historical Geography and summarizes the characteristics of population scale changes. The third part focuses on the population migration. This part elaborates the population migration from cohesive and discrete migration of the Mongolian Banner population and the Han population, in the meantime, points out that the population migration is the first determinant of the population scale changes in the Cahar right-wing area from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China. The fourth part briefly discusses the geographical distribution of the population. Be based on the "population scale" and "population migration", the part discourses the population distribution, summarizes the rules of the geographical distribution of the population and points out that population distribution features are determined by the natural geography environment, economic factors and the social and political factors.The paper researches the population scale and the population migration and the geographical distribution of the population in the Cahar right-wing area from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China; reproduces the history of population changes in this area. Thus we will have a more clear understanding of the history of the Cahar right-wing area...
