Profession is an important index that measures the progress of a society. It is influenced by a lot of factors, such as population, economy, politics and culture, and it reflects the true condition of social development and change in a timely way. From the end of Qing Dynasty to the beginning of the Republic of China (1904-1931), under the effect of internal and external factors, the old social order of Heilongjiang Province underwent a great change. New kinds of social systems were built successively and the golden time for the development of Heilongjiang Province came. Inevitably the radical social change influenced deeply the employment in this region.The change of the government policy, the system of government, and the input of native and foreign economic power made it possible that of Heilongjiang Province developed rapidly. And the emergence of a large number of immigrants ensured the supply of human resources for the construction of Jiang Province. Professions in this province changed from a simple and backward structure under the military management to the traditional professional structure in a short time. There appeared the following characteristics: Professional structure was enlarging and becoming mature; the employment increased greatly especially in the area of agriculture, industry and trade; the skills of professional workers were becoming better. With the emergence of some new kinds of professions, the profession of Heilongjiang Province was characterized with the modern society. The social development of Heilongjiang Province also reacted to the change of the professions, which promoted the change of the natural structure of population, the class structure and the standard of value, maintained social stability, promoted the continuous development of Heilongjiang Province, and as a result, accelerated the change of Heilongjiang society into an inland region.
