In recent years,the tourism industry in Lanzhou has developed rapidly.More and more foreign tourists come to visit Lanzhou,and the translation of tourism texts has become increasingly important to promote the development of tourism industry.The source text of this report is the tourism text of scenic spots in Lanzhou.And the translator conducted this translation practice under the guidance of Vermeer's Skopos Theory.This task is entrusted by Gansu Yuanzheng Sports Cultural Industry Development Co.,Ltd.The source text is the third chapter of Travel in Lanzhou,which mainly introduces the famous scenic spots along the Binhe Road in Lanzhou.According to Newmark's Text Typology,texts can be divided into expressive texts,informative texts and vocative texts respectively.The informative text mainly conveys the information to the readers.The vocative text mainly attracts readers to act.The source text belongs to tourism text.Based on Newmark's Text Typology,this source text is a comprehensive functional text,which is informative and vocative.Considering features of the tourism text,the translator chose Vermeer's Skopos Theory as a guiding theory.In the process of translation,the translator met some difficulties owing to the lack of relevant knowledge of tourism culture,such as the translation of professional terms and long sentences.Under the guidance of Skopos Theory,the translator adopted the Domesticating translation strategy.She used translation techniques such as addition,omission,conversion,division,simplification and reorganizing in the translation process to realize informative function and vocative function of tourism text.And she gave the fact that how the three principles of Skopos Theory are used in lexical level,syntactic level and textual level.The translator divided the translating process into three steps: before translation,while translation and after translation and analyzed the problems she met during translation.Firstly,the translator analyzed the source text and introduced the translation task in brief.Secondly,the translator described the whole process of translation.Thirdly,the translator stated the difficulties in translation and conducted case analysis with corresponding solutions in lexical level,syntactic level and textual level.Finally,the translator made a reflection and summarized the translation task in the conclusion.Through this translation practice,the translator found that preparation before translation is very important.Only understanding the features of tourism text and consulting the background information and parallel texts,can the translator improve the quality of the translation.Through this translation practice,the translator found that the reader's reading and aesthetic habits should be fully considered in the process oftranslating.She conveyed the information of source text as much as possible under the guidance of Skopos Theory,encouraging readers to travel.In addition,the translator was deeply aware that a translator needs to focus on the accumulation of historical and cultural knowledge.
