Research On Urban Community Providing For The Aged In Jiangxi Province

The problem of population aging in China is becoming more and more serious. It has become a strategic problem which has a profound effect on the China’s economic and social development. How to build a system of urban community providing for the aged that adapts to China’s domestic features and meets the objective requirements of the development of the aging of the population, is the core of solving the problem of population aging.Jiangxi Province entered the aging society in20054years earlier than expected, so improving the quality of the providing for the aged brooks no delay. Although urban community providing for the aged starts late in Jiangxi, but it has achieved a good result after several years’development. Based on this, this paper focuses on how to establish and perfect the system of urban community providing for the aged. The author describes the contents and the features of urban community providing for the aged in Jiangxi province through investigation, and then assesses the providing and exercising condition of it in order to reveal the major deficiencies of urban community providing for the aged, such as inadequate funding, lack of publicity, gap between service supplying and demanding and so on. As community providing for the aged originated and developed in western countries, so the relevant countries or regions have accumulated considerable experiences whether in theory or practice. Therefore, during the process of the construction of community providing for the aged service, we should draw and absorb useful lessons from them.In light of the above discussion, the author proposes some strategies on how to improve community providing for the aged in the combination with the actual situation in Jiangxi Province. Countermeasures are as below:first of all, we should redefine the role of the government and increase the financial input. Secondly, take service demand as orientation and rich the contents of community providing for the aged service. Thirdly, strengthen the propaganda of public opinion and change people’s views about it. And eventually, explore a new model of community providing for the aged suitable for Jiangxi Province.
