The construction of a harmonious relationship between new generation migrants and urban residents together with the promotion of urban integration of new generation migrants are crucial ways of building a harmonious city and society, which are also the inevitable requirements of establishing a service-oriented government and encouraging social stability. Meanwhile, the methods of how to eliminate gaps between new generation migrants and urban residents as well as the establishment of harmonious relationship between them have become the major problems in present China.The paper mainly analyses the characteristics of new generation migrants, the current situation between new generation migrants and urban residents as well as the corresponding reasons. Due to the urban-rural dual structure, imperfect legal framework and social security system etc, the new generation migrants has become a vulnerable group. In addition, the policy discrimination along with the benefit and identity differences between new generation migrants and urban residents also lead to the contradiction and conflict between them. Therefore an in-depth analysis of this problem means a lot that is, providing a train of thought to resolve the current prominent problem. The author believe that only the elimination of discrimination policy, the reform of household registration system and the breakdown of urban-rural dual structure, meanwhile, perfecting the legal system and improving the social security system, reforming the cultural system and establishing a harmonious culture, strengthening psychological counseling and enhancing social identity do good to a harmonious relationship between new generation migrants and urban residents.
