The present thesis, using methods of literature analysis and case study, focusing on the Egypt Coupin2011, introduces the historical background of its start and development, the political and economicpattern in North Africa as well as the specific process of this coup, and carries out the exploration andanalysis, using the main causes of the coup as the main line of research. Based on relevant theories andanalysis of the materials of this case, discoveries are as follows: the Egyptian political system and theimbalanced development of its society, economy and culture are the institutional cause the coup; thelong-term one-party policy and the policy of great political pressure have marginalized other parties, which is the political cause of the coup; imbalanced diplomatic policies and the economic reform failurehasten the declining tendency of the society, and resulting in dramatic increase of political participationoutside the system—the social root of the breakout of protests and coup in Egypt; social network, whichplays the role of the instrumental variables, is the technical cause; the Egyptian military, choosing to actas a neutral third party, becomes the critical cause of this coup. Tunisia, profoundly related to Egyptboth geographically and politically, experiences regime change within a short period of time, whichserves as a demonstration effect for Egyptians psychosocially. Social contradictions accumulated over along period of time break out in massive street protests. And the youths and social network, serving asthe major force and the technical method, contribute to the development and strengthening of streetprotests. Large amount of political participation outside the system contradicts the current politicalframework, resulting in a situation beyond the control of the authority; other political forces, judging bythe situation, compose the cross-party inclusive united front, and join the protests very quickly andforcefully, shaking the authorities regime; the Egyptian military, as the last resort of Egyptiangovernment, refuses to block the protest movement. The government loses all kind of resorts, andPresident Hosni Mubarak, steps down as a result of various factors.
