About the western modern democracy, Chinese people often take it as a political system and social ideal.Sun Yat-sen also think that. In the view of Sun Yat-sen, the essence of democracy is sovereignty in the people. And the basic practice of democracy is freedom, equality. Sun Yat-sen attempts to overthrow the Qing Dynasty’s rule. The overthrow of the regime is followed by a new government’s been established. The new government is of the people, by the people, for the people.In addition, he explores the building of democracy and advocates the division between rights and function. On the one hand, people have four civil rights. On the other hand, the government has five powers. So that, people can participate in state affairs management. At the same time, the government can achieve an orderly management. And the democratic construction is stepwise.With board theoretical basis, Sun Yat-sen creates his democracy thought. His democracy thought absorbs the advanced culture of the East and the West. Generally speaking, his democracy thought has the following characteristics: focus on the generation of the civil rights, distributive justice of economy and national rights. His democracy thought has a certain rationality and feasibility. Of course, it also has many deficiencies.
