Research On Filtering Mechanism Of Urban Community Based On Social Space Polarization

Since the late1990s, with the inequality of wealth and income of different socialgroups, social gap between the rich and the poor is widening, trend of urban residentsstratification is more and more obvious, thus leading to the problem of inequitabledistribution of resources in the society. These social problems are reflected in thegeographical space, the most prominent one is the stratification of urban communitiesin the social space. Urban residents regularly move to the community which matcheswell with their identity according to the social hierarchy. Once the phenomenon ofunreasonable distribution of social wealth continues, the number of middle-incomefamilies become less and less and the number of low-income and high-incomefamilies increases greatly, which will definitely lead to the polarization of the socialspace.From the perspective of the urban social space,this paper applies the urban socialspace polarization theory, based on the previous analysis of Northwest China majorcity-Xi’an urban social spatial structure evolution and their communities polarizationstatus and select the south of Xi’an scientific research, culture and education area formore in-depth empirical research so as to find out the community filteringmechanism.Firstly, this paper studies the evolution of the of Xi’an urban social spatialstructure. Then a comparative research on the urban social structure between the earlyindustrialization period and the rapid industrialization period in Xi’an ismade.Moreover, the analysis of the evolution trend is also included.Secondly, this thesis analyzes the polarization characteristics of Xi’an urbancommunities in terms of residents’ income expenditure, education background,occupational status, and family housing sources,and then summarizes the currentpolarization characteristics of Xi’an urban communities.Thirdly, this paper explores the Xi’an urban communities filtering status, mainlyfocusing on the urban village community. Finally, through large-scale survey, site visits as well as survey, the communityfiltering mechanism of Xi’an scientific research, culture and education area issummarized in terms of community residents’information,community satisfactionand the family migration status.
