Since the20th century, with the in-depth development of modernity, people’ssurvival criterion, survival habitus, pursuit of value and spiritual orientation havefundamentally changed, which all announced the opening of a new way of life.Accompanied by the phenomenon are more and more young nihilis and a variousmoral problems newly arising from society. The government from both developed anddeveloping countries cannot help feeling great concern for such problems. MoralEducation practice in Contemporary English Schools reflects a renewed look at suchchanges, so as to settle the problem of young people’s moral landslide. Obviously, itssuccessful experiences are very instructive to strengthen, maintain and promote thehealthy growth of teenagers and the social harmonious development.This paper firstly reviewed the origin and historical evolution of youth’s schoolmoral education in Britain. Then it analyzed the overall appearance and characteristicsof the school moral education, especially the period from the mid-1990s to the present.Subsequently, vertical analysis shows the content, methodological quality andpractical character. This paper argues that contemporary youth’s school moraleducation in Britain is not only for meeting the demand of era, but also for the urgentneed of youth’ development at the present time. Therefore, it is necessary for furthercomparison analysis between Britain and China.By contrast the British school moral education practice status quo, we can drawthe Chinese school moral education still lag behind in education content, methods andmeans. In order to achieve sustainable long-term development in the future, we shouldnot only make in-depth research and learn from the British, but also put forwardcountermeasures and suggestions which are linked to the concrete conditions of ourcountry.
