Values education originated from people's thinking about the value problems caused by the collision of multiple cultures and multiple values,and has always been valued by the academic circles of various countries.In China,values education is also an important part of the national education system and a key part of ideological and political education.However,values education is not easy,especially in a country like China with a population of 1.4 billion and 56 ethnic groups.Large population base and cultural prosperity and diversification are the unique signs of China,and values education must take these characteristics into consideration.In China,how to obtain the "greatest common divisor" of the value recognition of various ethnic groups,establish reasonable educational goals under different backgrounds,and choose appropriate methods for education are the core issues of Chinese values education.Over the years,through the joint efforts of many scholars,my country's research on values education has made considerable progress.However,with the further development of economic globalization,network life has also deepened and promoted cultural interoperability,increasing the intensity of collisions between different cultures.In this context,how to maintain confidence in values and strengthen cultural confidence is an important problem facing contemporary values education."Stones from other mountains can be used to attack jade." In the field of values education,we cannot do things behind closed doors.We must broaden our horizons,explore the advantages and disadvantages of values education in other cultural backgrounds,and learn how to govern our domain.As a classic developed capitalist country,the United Kingdom has a profound historical accumulation of values education,and it has unique practices and experience in curriculum teaching,psychological counseling,implicit education and the creation of an educational environment.Therefore,this article sorts out the background of the values education of the two countries,the content of education,the goals and approaches of education,and conducts comparative research.This article uses the comparative research method,inherits the existing research results,and uses Marx's historical materialism to systematically sort out the content,educational background,educational goals and educational approaches of the values education in China and the United Kingdom.After comparative analysis,it is not difficult to find that although the content of the value education of China and Britain is established based on the historical and cultural background of the two countries,facts have proved that the “universal values”promoted by the United Kingdom cannot be applied to all mankind.Within the scope of application,its so-called "freedom,equality,human rights" does not truly guarantee the freedom,equality and human rights of all citizens.In contrast,the advocacy and pursuit of my country's socialist core values on the three levels of the country,society,and individuals can more fully reflect the development needs of everyone and ensure that everyone's needs are truly met.Of course,in the implementation of values education,the United Kingdom is worth learning from its good implicit education methods,psychological counseling supporting system,and the tradition of focusing on practical experience.Through dialectical analysis and applying the method of integrating theory with practice,our country has obtained corresponding enlightenment in all aspects of British values education.
