In face of the increasingly changing military pattern, along with the development ofChina’s naval construction and the progress of ship’s construction technology, the Chinesenavy undertakes the historical mission of defending their motherland. The material supplyis the important guarantee for the large ships sailing to ocean or battling at sea. Thematerial supply is also the lifeline to consolidate and improve the effectiveness of combatat sea. The material supply has been the important factors to decide the comprehensiveoperational capability for China’s navy.In order to improve the efficiency of the material supply for large ships and shortenthe material handling time, the methodology used to solve the operation optimizationproblem of material handling system for large ships was come up in this paper. Namely:system handling analysis SHA methodology as the basis, the optimization theory andvisual simulation technology as the guide, the analysis methodology that include materialanalysis, method analysis, optimization analysis and simulation analysis was established.The problem of comprehensive dispatching management for material handling wasanalyzed in this paper, and the order of the material supply was considered as the keyfactor for operation optimization. The operation optimization mathematical model wasestablished in this paper. The solution of this model can be come down to the TSPproblem. The genetic algorithm was used to find the solution of this model. Thedevelopment method and key technology to simulate by using Flexsim was introduced inthis paper. Finally, the operation optimization methodology was used to carry on theanalysis, optimization and simulation according to an example of a large ship materialhandling system. The satisfactory handling scheduling management scheme was foundand the theory handling time was also calculated. In view of the problem of visualsimulation the simulation model of every kind of material can be developed. The overalltransport model was integrated according to the handling of dispatching managementscheme. The validity of this mode was verified by through the contrast of the theory timeand the simulation time. The research methodology on operation optimization and simulation problem ofmaterial handling system for large ships in this paper is important to guarantee thereliability of ship supply, improve the utilization rate of transportation equipment and theefficiency of the material handling and promote the level of the handling schedulingmanagement. Meanwhile, it has important guiding significance to the similar materialhandling system operation and management.
