Study On Chinese Women’s Participation In Politics

Since the birth of New China, a lot of outstanding women have stepped onto the politicalstage. Accompanied with the reform and opening, Chinese society has achieved hugeachievements in politics, economy and culture etc., and the pace of women’s participation inpolitics is accelerating promptly: the awareness of women’s participation in politics isstrengthening continuously, its level is improving constantly and its depth is expanding widely.Women’s political rights are relatively reflected completely. This is a historical progress, weshould also notice the defects, such as the lower proportion of women’s participation inpolitics and insufficient expression of women’s participation rights. What’s more, in currentChina, women have quite inadequate participation and low performance in state politics, soChinese women’s participation in politics is still very severe.This thesis discusses Chinese women’s participation in politics from four parts. Part onemainly defines the connotation of feminism and explains the writing thinking of the thesis.Part two is about the influence of feminism and its enlightenment on Chinese women’sparticipation in politics. Part three mainly analyzes the basic situation, features and existingproblems in Chinese women’s participation in politics. Part four mainly conducts the causeanalysis of the existing problems and puts forward several reflections on how to promoteChinese women’s participation in politics.Women’s participation in politics is the core field for women’s development, and it is amajor method to realize gender equality and improve women’s status. Political participation isthe highest level of women’s social participation and the supreme form for women’s liberation.If women are lack of motivation to be involved in the leading and decision-making level,resulting in no successors, it will be impossible to realize women’s influence on theformulation and decision-making of national policy, laws and regulations, thus losing thevalue of women’s participation in politics. Therefore, only through women’s politicalparticipation to influence public policy and draw public attention to women’s demands and interests can we protect their benefits and improve their survival and life.Women’s participation in politics is an important channel to realize modern politicalcivilization, which has great social value and significance. Women’s participation in politics isan important symbol of social and political democratization, and it is also an importantconstituent part to improve the public democratic participation level. Women account for halfof the world’s population. The previous policy of women’s prohibition in politics enormouslyaffects the realization of women’s common rights. Only by improving women’s status androle in political decision-making can the political system truly represent the will of themajority. Only when women enjoy the equal opportunity of participating in politics can theytruly enjoy the complete civil rights so as to change the political system centering on paternityand promote the political system towards a more civilized stage.Women’s status can’t realize real improvement until gender equality is realized inpolitical field, women and men enjoy equal opportunity in national policy anddecision-making, and women actively care about politics and participate in politics so as toplay a role in national politics. At that time, gender equality will be no longer a legal term,and instead, it can be realized in reality.
