A Study On Women’s Participation In Politics In The Course Of China Democratic Politics

“The iron lady” was once the said of Margaret Hilda Thatcher, Former British Prime Minister. But now, there’re many women who have good conditions and be full of strong desire to participate in politics begin to show themselves in political field. For example: President of Korea Park Geun-hye, President of Argentina Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, President of Brazil Dilma Rousseff, and premier of Germany Angela Dorothea Merkel and so on. It lets “The iron lady” become a General term. Even so, there are few women leaders in the world political field.In the case of China, because of the Influence of historical reason and real reason, the degree of political participation and awareness of political participation of women are all very weak. So the situation is not optimistic. But with the improvement of socialist democracy, the national political system and women themselves, as also as the attention of the party and the state, the situation of women’s participation in politics become better and better. The report of the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China mentioned the state policy about gender in the first time. Then it not only improves sensitivity of gender, but also gives courage to participate in politics to women and highlighted women’s importance. As the same time, it promotes the progress of women’s participation in politics and brings new opportunities for women’s participation in politics. But we must find many problems when we affirm the achievements. For example, the gap between China and Northern Europe in the degree of women’s political participation is very large and the gap between China and international standard(The fourth World Conference on women regulated the proportion of women’s political participation was 30%) is also very large.Women’s participation in politics is the core and basic embodiment of women’s liberation; it is the scale of women’s state and political civilization of a country. At present, in the background of the implementation of China dream, women’s political participation is important force for the construction of the socialist democratic politics and the internal driving force to improve the country’s political system and promote social’s harmonious and stable. So, it is full of theoretical and practical significance to research women’s political participation. This paper tries to understanding the relationships between women’s political participation and the construction of democratic politics. Then it finds problems, analyzes reasons and proposes measures through the quantitative analysis and the qualitative analysis. I hope my paper can contribute something to the research of women’s political participation.It is made up with introduction and four chapters. Firstly, it is about concepts and theories. In the first place, it elaborates the meaning of democracy and analyzes its component at the same time; it defines the concept of women’s political participation. Then it explains the theoretical basis of women’s political participation from Marx’s view of women’s participation in politics and the characteristics of women’s participation in politics in the view of China to extrude the importance of women’s political participation. At last, it is about the relationships between democracy and women’s political participation. It emphasizes that women’s political participation is the key of the democracy construction and the subject is full of practical significance through discussing the active relationships between democracy and women’s political participation. Secondly, it is about the situation and problems of women’s political participation in the process of democratic political. In the first place, it summaries the progress of women’s political participation and finds problems from data. Then it compares situation about women’s political participation with developed country. And it compares situation about mainland with that about Hong Kong and Macao. Then it comes up with problems through the quantitative analysis and the qualitative analysis. At last, it summarizes problems of the women’s political participation in Chinese mainland. Thirdly, it is about reasons of women’s political participation. It expounds from politics, economy, culture and themselves. Fourthly, it is about measures to deal with problems of women’s political participation. It explores from the subject and object. The subject is about politics, economy, culture and society, and then it comes up with improving measures. The object is about women themselves. Then it comes up with ideas that can improve women.
