Pre-service training is an essential intensified training fornewly-appointed policemen before they formally start working, which not only playsan important role in the cultivation and transport of the police talents and theconstruction and development of police theory, but also lays a solid foundation for thenewly-appointed policemen to adapt to the subsequent police work. At the same time,pre-service training for newly-appointed policemen is also the main way for thepolicemen to gain policing skills and policing theory and knowledge. But with thesocial economic and political development, the policing development in modernsociety makes increasingly high requirements in the aspects of policing skills,knowledge and psychological quality, etc. on policemen. Under this background, theresearch on the curriculum provision of pre-service training for newly-appointedpolicemen is of positive significance.The object of the research is set as “Research on Present Situation andCountermeasures of Curriculum Provision of Pre-service Training forNewly-appointed Policemen”. Thus, the key issues to be solved are put forward:“What is the present status of curriculum provision of pre-service training fornewly-appointed policemen” and “How to carry out the curriculum provision ofpre-service training for newly-appointed policemen”. The problems above to be solveddetermine the research tasks and ranges of this paper. Based on the questionnaires andinterviews on100newly-appointed policemen in Meishan City and aimed at issuesfound in the pre-service training, this paper makes introspection on the currentsituation of the training and the characteristics of curriculum provision of thepre-service training for newly-appointed policemen; Based on comparison with andanalysis on Hong Kong’s curriculum provision of the pre-service training fornewly-appointed policemen, this paper probes into the deficiency of curriculumprovision of the pre-service training for newly-appointed policemen and puts forward the corresponding countermeasures. Research shows that “the core of curriculumprovision of the pre-service training for newly-appointed policemen is that thecurriculum provision should be targeted and practical”,“on one hand, the enthusiasmand interest of the newly-appointed policemen for participation in training areincreased significantly, and their awareness of active learning are enhanced; on theother hand, the knowledge and skills acquired from the training facilitate thenewly-pointed policemen to be more adaptable to the practical police work”.Combination of academic research and training practice is the feature of this research,which is characterized with certain academic and practical significance.
