With the development of China’s economy and the people’s increasing demands for material life and spiritual life, tea, as national drink, is receiving unprecedented attention. In the increasingly fierce market competition, the tea culture industry has become a highly competitive industry with its strong local features. However, the development of Pu’er tea culture industry started late in Yunnan province and it is faced with the challenges brought by some famous tea at home and abroad, so the research subject of tea culture industry focuses on how to exploit tea culture resources and establish competitive advantages of the industry. Pu’er and Xishuangbanna are the major sources of Pu’er tea in Yunnan province. They are said to be the typical representatives in exploiting and developing Pu’er tea culture and related industries. If their competitive advantages can be scientifically researched and reviewed on the basis of summarizing the competitive factors of Pu’er tea culture industry in the two places, we may be able to better understand the development of Pu’er tea culture industry in Yunnan province, and to find out recommendation to promote the development of it.The paper discusses the competitiveness of Pu’er tea culture industry of Yunnan province by applying diamond model framework of Porter. At first, by using literature analysis, it summarizes the development status of Pu’er tea culture industry of Yunnan province under the premise of examining the background of the development of Pu’er tea culture industry. And then it makes a comparative analysis of the competitiveness of tea culture industry between the two places Pu’er and Xishuangbanna based on "diamond model". The detailed analysis are made from six aspects, including production factors, demand conditions, supporting and related industries, strategy, structure and intra-industry competition of enterprises, government as well as the opportunity. The conclusion from the analysis is that the supply of production factors, supporting and related industries and the guidance of government are the important factors which constitute the competitive advantages of Pu’er tea culture industry in Yunnan province. Finally, recommendations concerning how to maintain competitive advantages of Pu’er tea culture industry in Yunnan province are given according to the analysis conclusion.
