With the development of national economy after the reform and opening-up in china, the problem of electricity shortage occurrences much frequently than the past, especially the surge demand of electricity in summer. The problem has more and more becoming an important factor to restrict the development of national economy and improvment the living standards of people.Although the most important reason of electricity shortage is the rapid increasing demand of electricity in Industrial and the residential consumption, the unnecessary waste of household electricity is one of the reasons that cannot be ignored. Many families often feels puzzled when they want to avoid the unnecessary waste of electricity because they even do not know the specific electricity consumption of various household appliances. There are various energy detection equipments for various household appliances at the market. However, these energy detection equipments have not formed a network. It is difficult to check and manage the electricity consumption of various household appliances for single family. To solve these problems, I have designed an energy detection and management system based on ARM and Zigbee technology. The system is going to build a star network and to design the software based on CC2430and TI’s Z-Stack protocol. The slave nodes detect the electricity consumption of various household appliances in real time, and send data to the coordinator node through the Zigbee network. In order to achieve the centralized detection and management of the energy consumption in various household appliances the coordinator node sends data to the ARM-side for processing through the RS232serial port.These system has many advantages:Firstly, the terminal node’s hardware and software are independent with each other in these system, so the single terminal node’s damage will not cause the collapse of entire system; Secondly, the coordinator node is the core of the entire Zigbee network, it’s main task is to transmit and receive information between the terminal nodes and the main control node.The architecture design of the coordinator node is simple which is beneficial to reduce the probability of error; Thirdly, the processor of the host controller is S3C2440which is based on embedded linux system has plenty of hardware and software resources for expansion. The communication of the entire system is using Zigbee wireless network, so it is easy for us to install and manage the system.To research the energy detection and management system based on ARM and Zigbee technology has an important meaning. It can bring a certain degree of convenience to people’s lives.
