In recent years, large-scale infrastructure construction has promoted the growth in demand for excavators. Simultaneously, higher requirements, regarding to functions and performance of excavator, have been put forward. It has been an inexorable trend that the excavator industry will be taken into the development direction of mechatronic, informational, and intelligently.Based on this background, this paper designs a GPS/GPRS display and control terminal combined with the technology development of excavator electronic equipment and customer requirements, which includes remote monitoring function, LCD and electronic control function of excavator electronic products, reducing connection cable, power consumption and cost, and improving the intelligence, the reliability, and the maintainability of the whole system.According to customer requirement and the characteristics of remote monitoring system, the paper designs the overall system structure. Hardware uses microprocessor LPC1787with the core Cortex-M3, and designs GPS positioning circuit, network communication circuit, data sampling and control circuit, storage circuit, LCD interface circuit and so on. In addition, it designs the communication interface circuit of RS232bus, CAN bus and so on. Considering the extension, the terminal provides more interfaces and extends different types of memory.The driver software is designed by functional mudules, also data sampling and filtering, storage, GPS positioning, GPRS network communication, human-computer interaction, remote upgrade, energy saving functions are designed. Meanwhile, FS based on NOR Flash is designed to manage datas. External font is added to display Chinese character. The terminal can also download new version software through GPRS to wireless upprade.Finally, the paper tests the main function, and each function works correctly and well, verifying the practicality of the system.
