Design Management institute(Design Management Institute,abbreviated as DMI) was formallyfounded in1975at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. It has developed almost40years.Design Management institute is an important, authoritative and international nonprofitorganization on design management. It has been committed to the design industry,academia andresearch, promote the multi-level expansion and application of design management theory.Comparedwith other domestic and foreign design management promotion agencies, Design Managementinstitute has more leadership in promoting the development of the international design, alsohas a more mature operation mechanism and provides a comprehensive and high-quality resourcesfor the design management research. Then it brings together design and business professionalsfrom corporations, consultancies, the public sector, and academic institutions to the inspiration,knowledge, and community they need to succeed, promotes the development of design managementstep-by-step,multi-dimensional and three-dimensional in the form of integration of resources.Chinese design circles is no stranger to the concept of design management, compare to the designmanagement research institutions and development departments in western Countries such asBritain,USA and Germany, or in some eastern countries such as Japan and Korea, these institutionsand departments in China do not have adapted strategies that are suitable to the situation in.our country,the design management of international recognition prompted researchers the areahas some potential for development, related to its deep-level exploration there is a lot of space.This paper attempts to take Design Management institute for example to study domestic andforeign design management promotion agencies, understand how similar institutions to promote thedevelopment of design management, to ensure the effectiveness of design management。The DesignManagement Institute is the only organization which continues to organize academic activities,publications, carry out the design promotion in the field of design management research.To sortout its40years of development course, analysis of its mode of operation and academic contributionis illuminating for the Construction model of our design management promotion agencies that ispreliminary explored.
