Myanmar Hope Seto City Chinese Teaching Investigation

In recent years, Chinese teaching in Myanmar has developed very quickly, accordingly, more and more researches on this field have been conducted, However, such researches are mostly from the whole aspect, while the resarch on certain areas in Myanmar is very few, the study about Chinese teaching situation in Monywa is just in a blank stage.This paper, through scientific investigations and interviews, has studied the situation, the problems and the restrictive factors of Chinese teaching in Monywa, in order to provide some suggestions on the development of Chinese teaching in Monywa.Firstly, this paper reviews the history of Chinese language teaching in Monywa, analyzes the general situation of Chinese teaching, the situation of using teaching materials and that of classroom teaching of three Chinese language schools in Monywa. Meanwhile, this paper also conducts an analysis on learners, including their learning situation, learning reasons, learning needs an etc.Secondly, this paper, based on the investigation of these three Chinese lanaguage schools, analyzes contrastively the situation of the management, the curriculum and the classroom teaching of these three schools. Then the paper compares these three schools with Fuqing Confucius Classroom-a well-known Confucius Classrom in Myanmar, attempting to draw a whole picture of what really the Chinese teaching situation in Monywa is.Lastly, this paper proposes some advices on the improvement of Chinese teaching in Monywa:training more young teachers, choosing teaching materials according to learner’s Chinese level, teaching Chinese more systemetically, implementing test system, and popularizing HSK-an authorised Chinese proficiency Test and etc.
