Idioms and allusions,belonging to a special category in modern Chinese,become is a difficult point in teaching Chinese as a foreign language because of its profound and unique cultural connotation.Meanwhile,whether to use idioms and allusions properly is an important symbol of someone's Chinese proficiency and communicative ability in Chinese.Accordingly,how to teach Chinese idioms and allusions in Chinese teaching for international students becomes the research subject in this paper.The paper starts from the purpose and teaching materials of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and HSK syllabus to demonstrate the necessary of idioms and allusions teaching.Then,make analysis of idioms and allusions in materials for teaching Chinese as a foreign language,motivation of international students to learn idioms and allusions and teachers'understanding of idioms and allusions teaching,based on which it outlines the status of idioms and allusions teaching in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Besides,international students at middle and high level and their teachers in School of International Education,Xi'an Petroleum University as individual cases for the analysis of problems existing in idioms and allusions teaching.Through the sampling survey of students' idioms and allusions homework,we have learned their biased errors in using idioms and allusions and we also learned their basic understanding of idioms and allusions teaching through topic interviews with teachers.Based on above analysis and case study,the paper summarizes international students' difficulties and deficiencies in learning idioms and allusions and provides some corresponding idioms and allusions teaching strategies and methods to help them with the solution of contradiction of "interest + difficulties" exposed in idioms and allusions teaching so that they can learn idioms and allusions in the relaxed and pleasant learning atmosphere,thus achieving the ultimate objective of improving the comprehensive competence of Chinese communication.
