Social Support: An Empirical Study Of Chengdu-income Housing District Community Management

This article is about the current sociological study of social support in China.At present, our country is in social transition, with the deepening of the reform and thedevelopment of market economy, has led to many social problems, for example: the gap betweenrich and poor is widening, the living guarantee of vulnerable groups, justice issues and so on. Ifthese social problems can’t be solved timely and effectively, will influence the social stability andpeople’s live. The cause of social problems is that the existing system of social management andthe development of the socialist market economy reality are not coordinate, which requiresinnovation of social management system, reform the existing system, rules, methods that can notadapt to social development needs.An important aspect of social management innovation is to play social organizations’ socialsupport function in the social construction. Social support is to provide assistance and service freeof charge for who are demands (mainly aimed at vulnerable groups), this is an important approachto solve social problems and to promote social harmony. This text is based on the affordablehousing’s social management experience of chengdu as an example, analysis social organizations’function for vulnerable groups who are lack of social support, and the government’s leadingposition in the social support and the relation between the government and social organizations insocial support. Finally analysis the advantages and disadvantages of the government-led socialsupport, and reflect how can we make social organizations not to loss public welfare in the processof work, at last make some suggestions for social organizations to play a better role in socialsupport.Concluded that: social organizations provide social support to vulnerable groups, make up fortheir lack of social support by the means of compensation. Based on the current realistic situationof our country, the government still occupies the leading position in the social support from thesociety level. State and society is not the opposite, through the cooperation they cancomplementary to each other and achieve mutual increases. So to strengthen the power of socialorganizations, and play its social support function in social construction.
