Lenin Progressive Development Theory And Its Contemporary Development

The theory of "progressive development" is one of the important components of Lenin’s profound theory of socialism. The conception of "progressive development" is defined as a process through which the transition to socialism or socialist construction is realized step by step. It is a state of steady development in contrast to developing in an aggressive way. The classical writer Lenin’s theory of "progressive development" focuses on progressive development toward the objective of socialism.The theory mainly covers the following issues:advocating the development of small-scale peasant economy over a longer time span; making full use of private capitalism to build socialism; regulating commercial transaction and currency circulation, and seizing business links; changing focuses of work timely to eliminate "radical development" trend. The essence of Lenin’s theory of "progressive development" is making the most of state capitalism and private capitalism with a view to developing socialism. It has a value orientation of political stability. As a correct way of building socialism, it applies to countries which are economically and culturally backward.Represented by Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao, the Chinese Communist Party enriches and develops the theory of "progressive development" in practice, proposing that the rate of economic growth and economic benefits should be consistent, the national economic development should be conducted step by step at different stages in order of importance and urgency, and the political reform and democratic construction in modernization should be carried out step-by-step. In addition, the Chinese communists associate progressive development with social stability, thus enhancing their understanding of the theoretical importance of progressive development. They also transfer this abstract theory into concrete work principles, promoting the feasibility and applicability of "progressive development". Thus, the theory becomes further mature and scientific.Within the framework of the above theory, this thesis analyzes the era value and significance of Lenin’s theory of "progressive development" and comes to an important conclusion:"progressive development" is the fundamental way of constructing socialism in countries which are economically and culturally backward. This is of great theoretical and practical significance to the oriental countries which have the similar national conditions as are mentioned above.
