Regional security cooperation is an important issue in the study of international politics. Security cooperation is often difficult to achieve due to the existence of the "security dilemma", especially compared to the economic, cultural cooperation. Countries in East Asia have great differences in status of development, like the economic development level, social and cultural system. The regional identity and institutionalization are immature and weak, making it harder for comprehensive security cooperation in East Asia. There are plenty of theoretical studies and the empirical studies of East Asian security cooperation. Theoretical studies like hegemonic cooperation theory, theory of international mechanisms for cooperation, cultural cooperation theory and many other theoretical schools of security cooperation, all give possible solutions for Security Cooperation of East Asia. The United States, China and other East Asian countries devoted ideas about regional security cooperation according to their own interests and needs. All of the concepts are reasonable in some way which can be references for the Sino-US security cooperation of East Asia.East Asia has a unique history and culture. Steady regional security cooperation in East Asia depends on the positive interaction between great powers. This article expects to provide a multi-faceted thinking in the study of Sino-US security cooperation in East Asia. The perspective of cultural cooperation theory is new and more explanatory in regional cooperation.
