Since the reform and opening up, with the change of political and economical system, Sino-U.S. relationship has changed subtly. In the more than thirty years, Sino-U.S. relationship experiences different periods that is closed or tense. U.S. has paid close attention to Tibet Issue since the beginning of20th century. The Tibet Issue has become an important factor to function Sino-U.S. relationship since the Chinese reform and opening up. The main U.S. newspapers such as New York Times and The Washington Post report a lot about China’s Tibet since the Chinese reform and opening up. Most of the reports are not real and with concrete and real appearance. Most of the information region is one-sided. The Tibet policies are slandered of "cultural destroy" or "race extinction". The friendly relationship between central government and Tibet is damaged. Based on the ideological differences and national profit, most of the reports are aimed at attacking Chinese governmental policies and destroying China’s national image.This dissertation includes four chapters as follows:Chapter1states the purpose and meaning, the research condition of home and abroad, at the same time, lists the research methods and writing ideas, demonstrates the creativity. Chapter2analyses the historical background of the reports that U.S. main newspaper toward China’s Tibet since reform and opening up, including two parts:the situation change home and abroad since reform and opening up, the change of Sino-U.S. relationship since reform and opening up. Chapter3mainly discusses the concrete reports of U.S. main newspaper to China’s Tibet since reform and opening up, including the main content from reform and opening up to the end of Cold War, the main content from the end of Cold War to the end of20th century, the main content in21th century. Chapter4expounds the characteristics of the reports that U.S. main newspaper toward China’s Tibet since reform and opening up which are selectivity of content, tendentiousness of principle, inflexibility of model. And then, demonstrates the political orientation of the reports that U.S. main newspaper toward China’s Tibet since reform and opening up.
