The Liao Dynasty is the authority which is built in ancient times by the frontier nation; it is realized by theenvoys to communicate with the central plain authority. To be concerned with the relationship between LiaoDynasty and Song Dynasty, the envoys of Liao Dynasty play an important role. On the basis of the formerprofessor, this thesis attempts to give a systematic analysis on the kinds of the envoys, the choosing standard, therewards and punishments and the function. Specific content as follows:In the introduction part of the thesis consisting of four parts, they are the significance of theresearch, academic review, research approach and materials and the definition. They give the direction of theresearch.Section1mainly uses time as the clue to make a brief introduction to the envoys of Liao Dynasty who sent toSong Dynasty. From the year974to the year979，it was the first time that built the relationship between LiaoDynasty and Song Dynasty. In this period, the Liao Dynasty sent for the envoy to the Song Kingdom, viewingfrom the numbers, the names and the distribution between the civil service and military attaché did not mature yet.After the sign of Chan Yuan treaty, it built up the delivery between Liao Dynasty and Song Dynasty. Viewed fromthe numbers and the names, the rules of the envoy of Long Dynasty got more and more mature. More standardrules has built at last in this delivery.Section2make a systematic analysis of the envoy of Liao Dynasty, including Changshi, Fanshi and Yiheshi,Changshi can divided into Zhengdan envoy, Shengchen envoy, Gaoai envoy, Yiliu envoy, Huixie envoy、Jidianenvoy、Diaowei envoy、Zhuzang envoy and Hedengwei envoy. Fanshi is divided into solving contradictionsenvoys, kind with Song Dynasty envoys and Qiuyurong envoys. Yiheshi including the first time Yiheshi and thenext time Yiheshi.On the basis of the system classification to the envoys, section3analysis the choosing standard and therewards and punishments. In the standard of the selection, either with the central plains Dynasty appointed envoysor the unique standard. The native characteristics positive, deputy make selection criteria are not the same. Inreward and punishment, it main reflected in the official promotion and ousted, for the successful completion ofmission, and outstanding performance of messenger, punishment has the shame mission did not complete themission’s messenger.Section4has a systematic evaluation on the basis of the former character. First, viewed from the policies ofLiao Dynasty to Song Dynasty, the envoys of Liao Dynasty is the practitioner and the implementer of the deliverypolicies.
