Traffic police is an important part of public security organs, with the functions ofroad traffic safety and traffic management etc.. Research on the career development oftraffic police, is an important issue that is related to the policemen’s personal satisfaction,the public service quality, and the interaction mechanism between the two mentionedabove, and even the performance of the government level.Oriented by the scientific traffic police career development planning,this articlefocus on the research on the internal and external career dimensions and mainly uses theexperimental research method, based on the review on the previous research, from thedemographic aspect. In internal career part, this article uses the mature Schein careeranchor and satisfaction scale to test the occupation tendency. Then the SPSS software isused to describe and calculate the demographic characteristics, career anchor type, jobsatisfaction, descriptive statistics, variance analysis, and correlation analysis. In externalcareer part, take the panel data of first time promotion during the year1984to2011toestablish a multiple linear regression model to investigate that how demographiccharacteristics are related to the first promotion speed.Internal career part research shows the career anchor questionnaire has highreliability and validity. And the traffic police group also has eight kinds of career anchor,but the allocation is different with the overall mankind. It mainly consists of GeneralManagerial Competence type, Security Stability type and Service Dedication type, and5other minor types.Life style type has significant differences in different working yeargroups, Managerial Competence type has significant differences in different nativeplaces. In satisfaction field, age is the main influence factor and the satisfaction scorechanges similar to the alphabet M. External career part research shows the multiple linear regression model has strong explanation power in different,which suggests thatage has a significant negative impact on traffic police promotion speed, policeuniversity experience has significant positive effects. Gender, education level andlocally working does not significantly affect the promotion speed. Other factors havedifferent affects due to different periods.Based on the research results above and the career characteristics,here the articletakes out some proposals that will promote the traffic policeman career development soas to achieve the purpose of both the public security organ and the traffic police’ssatisfaction, which will finally leads to the over administrative ability of thegovernment.
