Mongolia and China have established diplomatic relations in1949. But after thatthe development of Mongolian-China relations has been at a low point.The mainreasons are the hostile relations between China and Soviet Union as well as Mongolia’sforeign policy of leaning to the Soviet Union.In the1990s, the international situationhas changed together with the collapse of Soviet Union, the primary “Bipolar” structuretransformed into “Only super Power and Multi-great Power” structure, and theinternational political relations also changed fundamentally. All of theses factors led tothe shift in Mongolia’s foreign policy. After the collapse of the Soviet Union,Mongolia’s"one-sided" foreign policy has also been unable to sustain,and the situation of politicsand economy are all fall into trouble. In order to follow the development trend of theworld political situation and the country’s own development needs Mongolia began totake " multi-pivot、 Omni-directional" balanced foreign policy. Therefore, China alsohas been included in priority direction of Mongolian foreign policy.Geopolitics and geo-economics have a significant impact on the development ofMongolia’s foreign policy. Because of the two factors,Mongolia has deemed therelationship with China and Russia as a priority for the Mongolia’s foreign policy. In the21st century,along with the rapid rise of economy and the growing global stature ofChina, Mongolia attaches importance to the development of Mongolia-Chinarelations.The bilateral relations have obtained many achievements. Currently,China hasbeen Mongolia’s good-neighboring and strategic partner. In the aspect of economic andtrade,China is the largest trade partner and investor to Mongolia,and the cultural communication is also increasingly strengthened. However,it is undeniable that thereare still a number of factors and problems cause negative impact for the developmentbetween Mongolia and China in the21st century. On the basis of the analysis ofbackgrounds and driving forces of Mongolia-China relations,this thesis researches thecurrent state in various fields of Mongolia-China relations in the early21st century andanalyzes the existing problems. Finally,this thesis discusses the development prospectof Mongolian-China relation.
