Due to the development of the city, the new community gradually replaced the traditionalcommunity. Some problem appeared in the new community,for example, inadequateparticipation of the community residents、lack of participation enthusiasm of the residents.These problems directly affect the development of the new community. Social capital as a setof tangible and intangible resources plays an important role in community development. Lackof the social capital will lead to some difficulties of construction community. Facing theserious situation of low level of residents’ participation, it is necessary to explore the relationbetween social capital and the residents’ participation, how to use social capital to promote theresidents’ participation level is an important task of the current community management. Sowe take the new community as the object of the research to explore the relationship betweensocial capital and residents’ participation in new community. The research has very importantpractical significance.Based on the former researches, To study the new community social capital effect on thecommunity residents’ participation, the social capital is divided into three factors, socialnetwork capital、social trust capital and social norms capital, it puts forward hypotheses:(1)The social network capital has a positively correlated effect on the residents’participation;(2)The social trust capital has a positively correlated effect on the residents’participation;(3)The social norms capital has a positively correlated effect on the residents’participation;(4)Different control variables have different correlated effects on the communitysocial capital;(5)Different control variables have different correlated effects on the residents’participation.The data are collected by the questionnaires. Two new communities in a district ofShijiazhuang are taken as samples, SPSS17.0is used for reliability test, validity test,correlation analysis, regression analysis, independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, itdraws the following conclusions:(1)The social capital has a positively correlated effect on theresidents’ participation;(2)The social network capital、social trust capital and social norms capital have positive effect on residents’ participation, Their influence degrees from high tolow are social trust capital、social network capital、and social norms capital;(3)In thedemographic variables, the educational degree and the age play an important role on the socialcapital; the marriage、the educational degree and the age makes an significant influence onparticipate of residents.Based on the analysis above, we can draw the conclusion. And at last, some suggestionsare proposed based on the survey and analysis.(1) We should construct a new communitysocial capital. First, foster community network capital; Second, establish the trust in moderncommunity. Third, Improve community norms and form a common value system.(2) Usesocial capital for cultivating participation of community residents. First,with network capital,to cultivate participation platforms. Second, to utilize social trust capital and form a goodenvironment which allows residents to take part in their communities. Third, make full use ofthe social norms capital and form a standard community participation network.
