Student Village Political Partici Pation

In recent years, with the implementation of national plans and policies of the Student Village, Student Village groups is increasingly becoming a hot topic of widespread concern in society,"Student Village fever" has become a phenomenon considered by many university graduates and the academics. The more and more attention paid to Student Village is the result of the interaction of a variety of factors. On one hand, because of the great importance attached by the party and government, Student Village program rose to a national strategy and regulation option in construction of new socialist countryside, university graduates are encouraged to go to the forefront and becoming vital force in new socialist countryside construction. On the other hand, under the background of the special age, Student Village plan has multi-level realistic significance, it would manifest the age values of the Student Village groups and help university graduates achieving there life meanings. Engaging excellent college graduates to serve at grassroots level in rural areas is a strategic decision important deployment aimed at accelerating the development of modern agriculture, thriving rural economic, and promoting new countryside construction, is the political needs to strengthening grass-roots politics construction and consolidating the party’s ruling foundation, also an effective way to implement talent strategy in rural development and realize urban and rural common development. Although there exist many problems in selection, training, management, distribution aspects in village official policies, undeniably, the Student Village policies and Student Village groups have been playing pivotal roles in China’s socialist new countryside construction.In this paper, Student Village group in J Zone, Jiangsu Province was used as the study case, and typical examples of Student Village in Jiangsu Province and the whole country were also incorporated to study the political participation of the Student Village in the socialist political system, aiming at a thorough study of the current situation of Student Village’s political participation, reflecting on the political function generated from the Student Village’s political participation, and putting forward corresponding measures and proposals for improving the political participation of the Student Village. In order to achieve the goals of the study, a variety of research methods such as literature, fieldwork, observation were applied, volumes of literature were read, in-depth investigations and comprehensive thinking and summary were performed, finally profound understanding of Student Village’s political participation in J Zone, Jiangsu Province was gained. Existence of a variety of political participation forms were found for the Student Village groups, and their political participation were also extensive. But there exist some problems in Student Village groups’ political participation, such as wide but not deep enough, pay more attention to form but ignore the content, focus on short-term effectiveness but lack of long-term planning, the political participation tend to stay on the surface and lack depth and thickness. However, the political function generated from the Student Village’s political participation is obvious, of great importance and extraordinary significance. In short, studying political participation of the Student Village and its political function is theoretically valuable and practically significant.
