Families consist of members with blood, marital and adoptive relationships who share the same residence and live together. The main types of families are single-person family, nuclear family, couples family, immediate family, joint family and so on. The family structural differences from area to area and the main causes of household type change due to the marriage, the birth, the death, the emigration, and flow. Therefore, the families which consist of members in the situations that mentioned above are called unbalanced household. The research on unbalanced household will make of great benefit to solve the problem of aging of population, social pension security, left-behind children, left-behind women, left-behind old people and empty nest family. This thesis will cover the analyses and discussions about the spatial distribution features of three kinds of unbalanced household, including the windows and the needy families, empty nest families and left-behind families. The data utilized here is the time-point data of Hebei Total Population database on September30,2012. According to the existing data list structure, the three kinds of families mentioned above can be defined. It not only becomes possible to construct the recognition model and household scale statistical model by means of PL/SQL,but also the household statistical results of this thesis are verified by the data of municipal census. With the help of GIS, the thematic maps of these three kinds of unbalanced household are worked out and the spatial distribution characteristics of those families in Hebei province are explored. As follows were the conclusions:(1)The percentage of orphan families in the counties of Zhangjiakou is higher than that in other counties; the percentage of the windows and the needy families in Zhangjiakou, the Midwest area of Baoding and the middle of Hebei Plain (the surrounding area of Xingtai).(2)The elderly and the young empty nest families find themselves mostly in Zhangjiakou, Qinhuangdao, Heilonggang basin (which is located in Xingtai) and the mid-west of Baoding. While in Chengde, the young empty-nest families have a high proportion.(3)The south of Hebei province, including cities of Shijiazhuang, Hengshui, Cangzhou, Xingtai and Handan, is greatly affected by the left-behind families. However, it is different from the the situation in Zhangjiakou, Chengde, Tangshan, Qinhuangdao and Langfang. (4)Emigration active areas such as Zhangjiakou and Qinhuangdao are actually made up of families with a small scale, indicating the tendency of’away from hometown, with the change of household registration". While in the south of Hebei province, there are active flows and the family scale is larger than other’s, indicating the tendency of "away from hometown, without the change of household registration".
