Intellectual disabilities are a huge group, the scholars’study shows that they general lack the interpersonal skills, but this kind of ability is the precondition of them into society, the guarantee for them to obtain employment intellectual disabilities social work is an important part of social work, but as a result of social work in this field has just started, it lacks of a mature work mode. Scholars’study in this field focus on theory, and most of the practice use the general social work methods, rarely use special methods according to the characteristics of the intellectual disabilities.This research in accordance with the mentally disabled people’s characteristics, combined with the treatment group work mode with the art therapy treatment technology, explore painting treatment model to promote interpersonal skills. group work and painting technology is similar in concept, group work provide a team with a dynamic atmosphere, and painting therapy can effectively relieve crew tension, improve the level of self-disclosure, improve team cohesion, make the group function get maximum play. The author selected eight students of Gansu H Disabilities Service Center as the members of art therapy group, through15times’art therapy group work, aiming at three aspects in interpersonal communication,respectively,interpersonal cognition, interpersonal emotional control and interpersonal communication. After analyzed the results of "Group Members’interpersonal Skills Assessment","Lowenfeld’s Graphic Rating Scale", Group interpersonal skills assessment questionnaire", found that painting treatment group work is effective for ascending intellectual disabilities’interpersonal ability.
