Child study is the cornerstone of the education research. For a long time, our country’s basic education is filled with the air of "no children’s education" thought, no "children" concept, no children’s "curriculum". In the field of teaching practice, teachers are generally lack of "children’s knowledge", they will be helpless and powerless dealing with the children’s problems of the teaching process. On the other hand,"teacher education curriculum standard (trial)" promulgated in2011also comes up with the idea of "education oriented", requiring the future teachers to set up the correct views on children and students, so the teacher education courses also need to focus on child study, it is imperative to increase the curriculum content about child development theory and child problem-solving strategies in the cultivation of the future primary and secondary school teachers of our country.At present, child study as a special research field is ascendant in many countries. In the United States, child study profession is training all kinds of child professionals, not only including early and elementary education professionals, but also child and family policy researchers, child aid agency staff and family education talents. Child study curriculum setting is also very rich, opening courses from multi-dimensions such as sociology, medicine, brain science, anthropology, psychology, striving to make students build more comprehensive research perspective, and paying attention to the cultivation of students’ clinical practice and reflective practice ability. There will be some enlightenment to our teacher education curriculum setting and development, it is worth reference and study.The paper includes three parts:The first part is about the generalization of child study in America, combing the development process of American child study and the overview of child study profession setting in American university.The second part is to analyze the curriculum setting of child study of American university, in order to know the characteristics of child study.The third part is from the status and problems of primary school teacher education curriculum setting in China. We can take the child study curriculum of American university as reference, putting forward the following solutions, such as increasing the proportion of child study curriculum, the construction of the child study curriculum column, strengthening the practice of child study curriculum implementation, reinforcing the sharing of inter-school quality curriculum resources.
