As we all know, university is a small society, compared with high school, theenvironment and life of university is relatively much more complex, college students alsoconvert from single “students” identity to “semi-social” identity. This sudden change ofenvironment and role, make freshmen inevitably appear adjustment disorder ofpsychology and behavior. The AD performance will hinder freshmen to share wonderfulcollege life, and it also has a bad effect on students’ future development. In this paper, weused quantitative way of SEM, built freshmen adjustment disorder psychology andbehavior model, studied the path of psychology to behavior, and provided somesuggestions in order to improve adaptability of freshmen.First, this study analyses large number of literature, described the theory ofadjustment and adjustment disorder, made an explanation why freshmen prone to haveadjustment disorder performance.Second, consulted freshmen counselors and counseling room teachers, made anunderstood of the prone maladjustment performance of freshmen. We learned that the ADpsychology performance included self-abased, no sense of belonging, a sense ofdissatisfied for new school, confusion; AD behavior included learning maladjustment,interpersonal communication maladjustment, campus life maladjustment. According to thetheoretical analysis, we proposed and integrated path assumptions and the main indicatorsof the system, and then the initial model of the freshmen adjustment disorder psychologyand behavior was built.Again, designed and modified the questionnaire, we selected312freshmen as sample,collected data of paper required. Then the confirmatory factor analysis for initial modelwas done by AMOS software and later an amendment to improve the model. According tothe result of the operation parameters, the amended model was analyzed, and resultsshowed that low self-esteem was the most important factor to freshman AD behavior.Finally, on the base of the analysis above, strategies were put forward from university, family and freshmen three angles to improve the adaptability of freshmen.
