On a knowledge-based and rapidly changing society, higher education must make a quick and flexible response to social demand for lifelong learning and human, and this will require that the structure of higher education and personnel training mode constantly updated. As a core element of higher education, Curriculum reform is bound to become the first and key positions. In addition, with the rapid development of science and technology, cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary emerging lifelong learning and all-round development is not only a concept, but the objective needs of the future society. Increasingly, we need multidisciplinary knowledge to solve all kinds of problems and to meet the needs of their own development. So, the world universities have started a comprehensive reform of the curriculum, forming four typical courses model:joint curriculum model of Oxford University, Xuequn curriculum mode of the University Tsukuba in Japan, the mode of the integrated curriculum of the University of Cambridge and the limited elective curriculum model of Massachusetts Institute. Among them, in the form of single subject, double and three subjects to combine the liberal arts and sciences, the Oxford’s joint curriculum model is most of its exemplary.Based on these, this article defined the concept of the curriculum, the curriculum setting and the concept of composite curriculum model, posing the base of the research on composite curriculum model and related theories. After the analysis of the specific status of implementation on the composite curriculum model of the University of Oxford, this article contrast the Oxford University’s compound curriculum model with other three typical curriculum model in the world, and summed up the composite course mode of Oxford University’s unique characteristics as discipline foundation and tools anchored.Finally, returning to the status of Chinese University’s compound course setting, this article summed up the existing problems and draws some useful experience from composite curriculum model of Oxford University.
